The Holyoke Safe & Successful Youth Initiative (HSSYI) Hosts Their 3rd Annual Community Celebration and Basketball Tournament.

The Holyoke Safe & Successful Youth Initiative program will be hosting their 3rd Annual Community Celebration & Basketball Tournament on Friday, July 28th at Springdale Park on Main Street in Holyoke. (Rain date: Friday, August 4th)

The Safe & Successful Youth Initiative is a grant from the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. This program is made possible through the strong Holyoke partnership between The Holyoke Police Department, River Valley Counseling Center, CareerPoint, The Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holyoke. Donations, sponsorships and volunteers are needed in order to make this yet another great event that will foster a community to come together. The HSSYI’s mission is to provide the young men it serves with the tools that will help them become successful members of society. The vision is to bring the youth and the community together. HSSYI would like to extend an invitation to the Holyoke community as well as its surrounding communities. The co-ed basketball tournament for youth ages 14-24 is sure to demonstrate, once again, the beauty of different cultures in the city of Holyoke. Come celebrate ‘Community’ in this great city and enjoy the many activities to be offered which includes kid activities, sprinklers, food, great music by DJ Rafael, a handball clinic by the New England Handball Association, Learn in Motion activities, Nick Tokman from the Discovery Chanel’s Deadliest Catch and much more.

This year’s event sponsors and supporters include: Ivory Billiard Lounge, Aaron Vega, State Representative, DJ Rafael, Garvulenskis Service Center, Dowd Agencies, Boston Medical Health Net Plan, CareerPoint, Holyoke Housing Authority, Max Salvage, Nicholas Tokman, Nueva Esperanza, One Holyoke CDC, PeoplesBank, River Valley Counseling Center, Taylor Rental of Holyoke, TWC Auto Body & Repair, New England Handball Association and City Sports Lounge, just to mention a few. The goal is to bring a community together as one during a friendly competition of basketball that recognizes the diversity of the City of Holyoke while enjoying great food, music, a skating competition and more. The support of the community resulted in a successful event last year. HSSYI is proud to present their 3rd Annual Community Celebration and Basketball Tournament on Friday July 28th, 2017 with a rain date scheduled for Friday, August 4th. Team registration forms for the 3-on-3 Basketball competition for Co-ed youth ages 14-24 are available at The Holyoke Boys & Girls Club, River Valley Counseling Center and CareerPoint.
