An Interview With The Artist: Steven Huerta

Journeys: An American Mix Tape by Steven Huerta remains on view in the gallery at Wistariahurst through the end of the month. Meet the artist at ourPicnic in the Gardens event on Thursday, June 29th, 5 - 7 p.m.

“Life in America is a collection of songs that was started before us, but a collection in which we are still contributing to this day, and for maybe a moment or longer; we get to shine. These are just my shots at a solo, if you will, and hopefully some pieces, my grandmother sang on her journey as well.”

Former California native, Steven Huerta, made New England his home in 1996, and now resides in Holyoke, MA. From singing to the visual arts, Steven has fostered a spirit of discovery that he attributes to his Buddhist practice, and the never ending inspiration he derives from his friends, and the experiences he’s acquired in this lifetime.

In this piece by RadioPlasma, Steven describes the process of creating the exhibit, shares some of the stories behind the pieces, and goes in depth on art, creation, and the importance of beauty in our world.
