In advance of Iris Morales' visit to Holyoke Community College (on March 22) the Holyoke Public Library will host a screening of her 1994 documentary, ¡Palante, Siempre Palante! on Monday, March 20, at 6:00 PM.

Iris Morales is an educator, filmmaker, lawyer, and lifelong Puerto Rican community activist based in New York City. Over the last several decades, she has brought her legacy of social justice activism to the many projects she has developed with young people, educators, and media producers, to promote human rights and the decolonization of Puerto Rico.

About the Film: In the midst of the African American liberation struggle, protests to end the Vietnam War and the women's movement for equality, Puerto Rican and Latino/a communities fought for economic, racial and social justice. From the streets of Chicago to the barrios of New York City and other urban centers, the Young Lords emerged to demand decent living conditions and raised a militant voice for the empowerment of Puerto Ricans and other Latino/as in the United States and for the end to the colonial status of Puerto Rico.
Free and open to the public.
