2017 Manuary Event

It’s that time of year for the men of the Holyoke Police Department to don “Manly” mustaches, goatees and beards to support our Veterans. The Holyoke Police Officer’s Ball Committee is sponsoring “Manuary”. The event runs for the month of January and sponsors a local Veteran cause. Holyoke Police Officers donate $20 for a mustache, $25 for a goatee and $30 for a full beard. 100% of the proceeds are donated to a local Veteran cause. This year we are honored to support HOMEWARD VETS, INC.

HOMEWARD VETS is based out of Southampton and the CEO is David Felty.

The following was taken from their web site.

Mission & Vision:

“We have a simple mission: to help veterans in need. We do that by providing previously homeless veterans with home furnishings when they transition from homelessness and move into the community. We make a difference in every life we touch.”

Meet the President:

“I have been incredibly fortunate in my life to never have had to experience the difficulties I see in the clients we work with. I can’t imagine what it’s like to not have a place to call home - and I think it’s a shame that in a country as great as ours, anyone should be faced with this challenge.

With that desire in my heart, my wife and I formed Homeward Vets Inc. We were looking to make a difference in our world and believed that by focusing on our community we're going to make the most substantial impact. The world is made up of these important social connections and if you foster them positively, they’ll pay huge dividends - in love, care, and a better world.” David Felty

Donations from the community are welcomed and appreciated. In the past citizens that joined us in this noble cause helped the Holyoke Police Department raise several thousand dollars for past groups (Honor Flight, Westfield State University Veteran Office and Service Dogs for Veterans). A simple donation will help establish a fortifying resource for our Military, Veterans and their family’s.

For citizens willing to support and help our brave Veterans, that volunteered to give everything for us, I thank you.

Send donations to:

Captain Matthew Moriarty
Holyoke Police Department
138 Appleton St.

Checks are to be made out to H.P.O.B.C (Holyoke Police Officers Ball Committee)

We are accepting donations until February 10, 2017.
