Nuestros Senderos Community Archiving Day

Every family has a story. Come share yours.

Family stories are at the heart of the Nuestros Senderos Project of the Holyoke History Room, Holyoke Public Library. The aim of the event is to begin to build a community archives that documents the origins and history of Puerto Rican life in Holyoke, and, more broadly, the development of local Latino culture.

Do you have old photographs of your family, your neighborhood, or other memorabilia? Photographs of ancestors? Material from clubs, teams, or musical groups in Holyoke to which you or a family member belonged? At the Nuestros Senderos Community Digitization Day at Enlace de Familias on September 24, you may have up to four of these scanned for free. You may keep all your originals and a digital copy will go into the collection of the Holyoke History Room of the Holyoke Public Library.

Planning to attend?

You may arrive anytime between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
You will be guided through a series of “stations” where you will register, tell us about the items you brought, and have them scanned.
You may also, if you wish, visit the Oral History Station, the Keepsake Photo Station, and learn how to best preserve your documents and photographs. It all takes about 30-45 minutes and is a family-friendly event!
