The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round Joins Area Non-Profits in Celebrating Valley Gives Day on Tuesday, May 3

The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round is pleased to announce that it will join area non-profits in celebrating Valley Gives Day, a 24-hour online giving event sponsored by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, on Tuesday, May 3. Valley Gives Day encourages philanthropy and the spirit of giving among the residents of Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties.

“The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round is a historical treasure in the heart of Holyoke offering recreation for families in the Pioneer Valley and beyond,” said Angela Wright, Executive Director of the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round. “We rely on community support to keep the ‘Happiness Machine’ spinning and are grateful to the Community Foundation for hosting Valley Gives Day.”

This year, donations made to the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round during Valley Gives Day will be used to replace outdated office equipment and technology – improvements which are vital for managing the Merry-Go-Round and communicating with customers. Valley Gives Day donations must be made online from 12 AM to 11:59 PM EST on May 3 via the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round’s Valley Gives web page. To donate, please visit the direct link or go to and enter “Holyoke Merry-Go-Round” in the search bar. All contributions are tax-deductible. Early donations are also accepted online.

Additionally, the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round will join fellow Holyoke organizations in the Holyoke Public Library community room on Tuesday, May 3. Stop by the Library from 12 to 2 PM to learn more about the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round, the Holyoke Public Library, and Holyoke Reach Out to Read, enjoy snacks, and donate. Contributions made during the 12 to 2 PM Power Hours will enter donors into raffles and make organizations eligible to win an additional $500 from the Community Foundation.

The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round is open on Saturdays and Sundays (in addition to certain holidays and school vacations) from 12 to 4 PM in the spring. Tickets are $2 per ride or 6 for $10. Holyoke Heritage State Park is located on 221 Appleton Street and borders Dwight Street in Holyoke. The Park offers family-oriented cultural and recreational programs. The eight-acre site contains the Park Visitors’ Center, Holyoke Children’s Museum, Volleyball Hall of Fame, and the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round.
