Mayor Hosts Annual Children’s Memorial Day at City Hall

Mayor Alex Morse would like to invite the public to join him in hosting the annual Children’s Memorial Day on Wednesday, April 20th at 10:00 am at City Hall

Joining the Mayor will be representatives from the Center for Human Development, HeadStart, the Holyoke YMCA, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, and other organizations from the community. This event is to raise awareness of the hundreds of children lost every year to violence.

The symbol of this observance will be the presentation and display of the Children’s Memorial Flag. The flag is a simple, moving image—a red field depicting blue, paper-doll-like figures of children holding hands. In the center, the white chalk outline of a missing child symbolizes the children lost to violence.

This event is free and open to the public.
