Adopt-an-Island Program in Holyoke Looking for Participants

Mayor Alex Morse is looking for organizations, businesses, and individuals to take part in the Adopt-an-Island program. In past years, the program was run by Tighe & Bond Inc., and now the city is working to make sure the program continues.

The program is aimed at building a community that helps to beautify the city. By having individuals, community organizations, and businesses participate, the city is able to promote itself while also giving the opportunity to create an aesthetic, vibrant place to live. Right now, there are over 50 participants in the program.

Participants are provided mulch, water, and a customized sign for a small fee of $50.

Mayor Morse is glad to have the opportunity to carry on this program. Mayor Morse said, “I want to thank Diane from Tighe & Bond for doing such a great job at running this program in the previous years, and we are more than excited to have the chance to make sure it continues. Programs like Adopt-an-Island are so important for the community not only for the fact that it is a small step that can make a huge difference in how the city looks, but because it gets people involved. It allows people to promote their business, remember a loved one, or simply get the chance to have a garden.”

If you are interested in participating in the program, please contact Heather Ducharme at 413-322-5510
