Friends of the Holyoke Public Library Present the First Mini-Golf Event in the Library

The Friends of Holyoke Public Library invite you to come play Miniature Golf in the Library to support youth library services and programs.

Don’t miss this unique experience! On Saturday, April 9, 2016, the Holyoke Public Library, located at 250 Chestnut St. in Holyoke, will be transformed into an 18-hole miniature golf course that weaves through the library’s five levels and book stacks. This is a family-friendly, affordable event; children under 5 free. All ages welcome. No reservation or ticket needed; just come. For information on cost, please call 420-8110 or visit our webpage:

Tee-off starts at 9:30am at the top level, 4th floor, following the course down to level 3 by historic photos of the old Mt. Tom Golf Club, then into the Children’s Room on 2nd floor, and down the stairs to the 1st floor book stacks. The 17th hole will be in the Teen’s Room on ground level, leading to the 18th hole and then a Hole-in-One Contest in the Community Room. Food vendors, Holyoke Hummus Company, Hot Oven Cookies and Log Rolling Catering (Catering Division of The Log Cabin), will be available on site.

Library services will be available April 9, 8:30am-4pm, though on a somewhat limited basis. Customers will be able to pick up holds, pay fines, return books, use the Computer Room, and sit to read in areas not involved in the golf course.

On Friday, April 8 the library will close at 4 pm so that volunteers can transform the library into a mini-golf course. The building will reopen at 6 pm for a party catered by Brennan’s: “Swing into Spring with the Friends!” This fundraiser (6-9pm) will include a Silent Auction, music by Martini Productions, and the opportunity to preview the Mini Golf course, and play some holes with invited mini-golf sponsors. Public welcome. No reservations needed.

Thanks to event sponsors HG&E, Westfield Bank, Finegold Alexander Architects, Aaron’s, People’s United Bank, Ross Insurance Agency, CareerPoint, River Valley Counseling, HAP Housing, Reliable Computer, Conklin Office Furniture, Open Square, Tea Cup on Linen, State Representative Aaron Vega, Williamson Commercial Properties, and Homewood Suites by Hilton, proceeds of these fun Friends events will support programming and services at the library, including the newly-expanded Young Adult services and outreach.
