Mayor Morse Recognizes Manufacturers Day in Holyoke

Mayor Alex B. Morse proclaimed October 2, 2015 as Manufacturers Day in Holyoke. Coinciding with National Manufacturers Day, Mayor Morse made the announcement an October 1 meeting of the Mayor’s Industrial Development Advisory Committee (MIDAC), where he expressed appreciation for the many ways that manufacturing businesses contribute to Holyoke’s economy.

At the meeting, Mayor Morse reflected on his visits to manufacturers and the lasting impression he received of how important these businesses are to the livelihood of so many Holyoke residents. Mayor Morse stated, “Manufacturing is alive and well in Holyoke and I’m continually impressed to see ingenuity at work and the quality of the products being produced right here in our City.”

For several decades, MIDAC has existed as an advisory advocacy group of manufacturers who meet periodically with the Mayor to provide insight and feedback on the needs of the manufacturing community, essentially serving as the primary liaison between the City and local industry. Efforts from the Mayor and his economic development team have focused on hearing directly from industrialists about their priorities and suggestions on how to better utilize existing partnerships with organizations outside their sector to effectuate change.
