Holyoke's Own Rock The Canal

Two Holyoke-based rock bands not afraid to push the boundaries perform live at Gateway City Live on Saturday, October 3 at 8:45pm.

Headlining the show is "The Basement Cats" whose sound is purposefully evocative of cheap pedals and blown out speakers, the sound of dirty basements and dirtier guitars. It's a sound The Basement Cats, an indie rock n' roll band, have been perfecting since their inception in early 2010. This sound, coupled with The Basement Cats boisterous, raucous, and extremely volatile live show, is a force strong enough that, upon their sets completion, it'll make you get up from your chair, step outside, shed a single tear, and declare to yourself: "That's fresh, that's genuine, that's potent, that's Rock n' Roll."

Opening for the Basement Cats is a band called Hot Dirt who blends the sounds of rock, funk and experimental jazz inspired by Coltrane, Miles Davis, Zappa, and James Brown, among many others.
Tickets to the show are $5 in advance and $7 at the door and can be purchased at

The Beer Garden is open before and during the show from 4-10pm. For questions about this show and other Gateway City Live events, please contact the Gateway City Arts music producer, Mark Sherry, at or call us at 413-650-2670.
