Magdaly Martinez Recognized by MCOA as Certified Program Manager

The Massachusetts Association of Councils on Aging (MCOA) announces that Magdaly Martinez, a Social Worker at the Holyoke Council on Aging, has successfully met all of the established criteria to be recognized as a Certified Program Manager. She is one of five individuals certified at the Senior Center Program Manager level statewide this year. In the fourteenth program year since the certification process was established, she joins thirty-eight other Senior Center Program Managers who have been awarded this certification. Successful applicants demonstrate their skills in the program area relevant to their position through the submission of a portfolio documenting their body of work. Applicants also need to meet established criteria of work experience and educational background. Teams of external reviewers evaluate the portfolio submission for content and completeness.

Modeled after programs in Michigan and Ohio and similar to other Massachusetts municipal department initiatives, MCOA began this process to ensure that older adults receive the same high level of service throughout the state.
