Holyoke High Swimming/Diving Star to Donate All-America Certificates to Holyoke Public Schools

This Wednesday, June 10, at 9:30 AM in the Mayor's Office, Bruce Mitchell will officially donate his two All-America certificates to the Holyoke Public Schools, to be displayed in the Claude Morin Natatorium at Holyoke High School.

Mitchell was recently informed by the NCAA that he is the only athlete in NCAA history to earn All-America honors in both swimming and springboard diving.

"I feel very strongly that my All-American certificates now deserve a new home, and that's why I want to dedicate these two certificates to the Holyoke Public Schools," Mitchell said.

Mitchell is a former Holyoke Historic Commissioner. He is donating his unique piece of Holyoke High School history in an effort to educate students about the great things Holyoke High students have achieved, and to inspire today's students to strive for greatness.

"The Claude Morin Auditorium is the perfect spot for my All-American certificates, because he was a swim coach who captured three championships for Holyoke High," Mitchell said.
