Holyoke Nights Hosts Movie Night and Volunteer Job Fair

On Friday April 10 from 6:30PM-10:00PM, Holyoke Nights, a for-youth by-youth events organizing group, invites you to be “Spirited Away” - to the movies and to volunteer job opportunities.

The free event for ages 13-20 will feature a screening of Spirited Away, an anime movie rated PG-13 about a 10-year-old girl who wanders from her new suburban home to a world of gods, witches, and monsters. As part of the Holyoke Youth Task Force’s Global Youth Service events series, the event will also feature a Volunteer Job Fair.

How was Spirited Away selected? Holyoke Nights committee members brainstormed possible movies and there was a vote. “The anime fans showed a lot of enthusiasm for this movie and won the support of their peers, even those who hadn’t seen the movie,” said Anne Thalheimer, Youth Development Coordinator/Facilitator for the group. “We look forward to sharing a great movie and great information with young people who want to have fun and get involved in the community.”

The Movie Night and Volunteer Job Fair will be held at the Holyoke High School Auditorium, 500 Beech Street.

As with all Holyoke Nights productions, the Movie Night will be drug and alcohol free and a safe space for all youth. Snacks will be available for sale.
