Mayor Morse Announces Senior Tax Work Off Program

Mayor Alex B. Morse and Council on Aging Executive Director Navae Fenwick Rodriguez invite eligible seniors who own homes in the City of Holyoke to participate in this year’s Tax Work Off Program.

The Senior Tax Work Off Program allows seniors who volunteer 83 hours for the City between May and November to receive a $750 dollar abatement toward their property tax bill. The program is limited to 30 participants selected by lottery. Applications are available at the Holyoke Council on Aging, 291 Pine Street. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

These programs were adopted by the state legislature and are supported by the City Council.

“Our city is fortunate to have so many senior citizens who care deeply about our community. The tax work off program has been a great tool for encouraging our seniors to stay involved and to reward their efforts of making Holyoke a better place,” Mayor Morse said.

This is the twelfth year the city of Holyoke has offered the program for seniors.
