February Gallery Exhibition – “From our Yards” 

Natural Landscapes: Photography of Les Campbell and Elaine Darr-Morton

Quabbin landscapes, seascapes and rural settings celebrate the rich variety of local flora and fauna of New England and exemplify the artists’ personal approaches to photography – straightforward pictorial documentation, capturing the essential “decisive moment” of exposure. Admission to Gallery $3 / Free for members

Saturday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. – Dark Dining Room House Concert Series

Dark Dining Room returns to Wistariahurst! The first concert offers Eef Barzelay, of Clem Snide, who has been featured on A.V. Club, NPR and other national outlets. Opening for Eef will be local musician Dave Houghton of Fancy Trash. Join us for a unique concert experience. While no dinner is served at Dark Dining Room, there will be a cash bar at each show. This event is sponsored by New England Public Radio, NEPR News Network.

Sunday, February 8 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Victorian Valentines Workshop

Participate in a fun and creative program that will inspire the artist in everyone! Create your own beautiful, unique card for special friends, family and sweethearts. Plenty of inspiration will be on hand, including antique valentines from the museum’s collection. Reservations are suggested as space is limited. Admission $7 per person / $5 members

Friday, February 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. – I Love Wine! A Wine Tasting to Benefit Wistariahurst

Don’t miss this fun and flavorful evening. Delicious refreshments will be served, courtesy of Log Rolling, the catering division of The Log Cabin and Delaney House. All proceeds from the evening will benefit Wistariahurst Museum. Cheers! The event is sponsored by Liquors 44, Log Cabin, Historic Holyoke at Wistariahurst, and by New England Public Radio, NEPR News Network. Reservations necessary. Monday, February 16 – Museum Closed for Presidents Day

February School Vacation Activities: Travels with the Skinner Family

Geared towards ages 8 and above. Reservations are required by February 14.Admission $12 general / $10 members

Tuesday, February 17 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Travel the World with the Skinner Family: Egypt

On our first expedition we’ll be working on uncovering the ancient mysteries of Egypt. Model your own pyramid and use ancient symbols to decorate it and use hieroglyphics to write a secret message.

Wednesday, February 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Travel the World with the Skinner Family: Japan

Next we’ll go to Japan, know for its beautiful art including silk. The Skinner family was involved in the Japanese silk trade and brought back souvenirs from their many travels. Create good luck charms as souvenirs of your visit to Japan.

Thursday, February 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Travel the World with the Skinner Family: France

Finally, we’ll end our journey in France, where Belle Skinner spent a lot of her time. A center of art and culture, a journey to France will inspire the artist in everyone. We’ll give you an introduction to painting that will send you on your way to being a fine artist.
