Local diaper service addresses national diaper affordability crisis by hosting fundraiser and affordable cloth diaper sale & swap.

Simple Diaper & Linen will host their fourth Cloth Diaper Swap and Shop. This event provides space for local families to sell their gently used cloth diapers, purchase cloth diapers at low prices, learn more about cloth diapering, shop local family- friendly vendors, and meet other cloth diaper and baby wearing families.

This particular swap will carry the theme of access for all. Researchers and early childhood interventionists are recognizing a link between the distress around not having resources to pay for diapers with lack of bonding and other mental issues that can disrupt the early parent-child bond. There will be a free cloth diaper 101, and Simple Diaper will be raffling off a bountiful basket filled with generous gifts from local businesses to go towards building more cloth diaper kits for parents participating in the Healthy Families program through Square One in Springfield.

“After reaching out to other programs that distribute free cloth diaper kits to learn about how to make this pilot project a success, we teamed up with Square One and their healthy families program to target families who already qualify for need. We provide the education and training to the parents, all the cloth diapers and accessories they need as their child grows, and Square One is offering additional cloth diaper accessories through their rewards program for participating families.”

“Cloth diapers need to be a part of the conversation for long-term sustainability. There is real savings here for people struggling to buy diapers. Using cloth diapers is 1/10 the cost of buying disposables on a weekly basis, and it’s an improvement for our environment to not have the strain of disposable diapers consuming our landfills. ” says Angie Gregory founder of Simple Diaper & Linen.

Simple Diaper needs more resources to build the kits and keep up with the demand for them. All proceeds from the raffle (valued at over $200!!) and $1 suggested door donation will go directly towards purchasing necessary items. They will also be accepting cloth diaper donations that day for the kits so if cloth diapering families would like to de-stash with purpose they’ll gladly take them, refresh them in their wash, and give them new life!

This event will take place on Saturday, October 18th at 420 Dwight Street, Holyoke, MA at 10 am. It is free to attend, though a $1 door entry fee is suggested to go towards the fundraiser. If folks would like to sign up to sell diapers please contact
