Holyoke Youth Task Offers “Do-Gooder Social”

The Holyoke Youth Task Force is hosting an informal networking opportunity for “Do-Gooders.” Offered “for people working to make the world a better place,” the event will take place Thursday, October 30 from 4:30-6:00 PM at the Dam Café on Northampton Street. The event is open to people of all ages.

The event is the brainchild of Glenn Johnson, Interim Grants and Projects Manager at the Task Force. “Strong relationships with each other are the foundation for our group efforts for change,” said Johnson. “We need a place with no agenda and no speakers, just to get together and build relationships in a relaxed and friendly environment.”

The event proposal got strong support at the monthly Task Force meetings for youth-serving providers and volunteers. “People immediately rallied around the idea,” said Christine Alger, Program Manager at the Task Force, “We believe in making the world a better place for Holyoke youth by building community and collaboration.”

Staff and management at the Dam Café were supportive also and will be open late on Thursday to accommodate the event. Participants are encouraged to buy food and drink to support the café that has offered its space at no charge.
